Prof. Hirohisa Akia and Dr. Bode Adewuyi attended the International Council on Electrical Engineering Conference 2024, held from June 30 to July 4, 2024, at Kitakyushu International Conference Center, Kitakyushu, Japan. The ICEE Conference is an annual forum for electrical engineers, researchers, and students from all over the world, which is jointly organized by the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan (IEEJ), Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering (CSEE), The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) and Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers (KIEE). The theme of the ICEE Conference 2024 is “TRANSformative Electrical Engineering for Future Society.”
During the conference, Dr. Adewuyi presented his research on “Optimal Decision-Making for Planning High-Renewable Energy Systems Considering Forecast Uncertainties.” Considering uncertainty, his study explores an optimal decision-making approach for encouraging high renewable energy penetration while ensuring grid operational security. A multi-scenario analysis using the information gap decision theory is developed to see how forecast uncertainties and appropriate demand response strategies influence hybrid renewable energy system operational planning. The conference attracted researchers from various countries, and more than 150 papers were presented in oral and poster sessions. This conference considered several studies on critical issues of low-carbon transition, which can inspire the sustainable coexistence of green economy and industrialization.
